In this task you are playing the role of a space scientist on an astrological field trip. You have just discovered some curious stones with mysterious powers! The stones do not all look the same, and how they look seems to be important for how they interact with one another.

The stones discovered so far:

• come in a range of shades: light, medium, dark, to very dark;
• and a variety of shapes: triangular , square , pentagon , hexagon , etc.

Sometimes the stones go into an active state in which they glow with a strange light . When an active stone is tapped against an inactive stone, it causes the properties of the inactive stone to change.

Any of the mysterious stones can be active or inactive.

Your task is to come up with theories about what determines these changes, and make some predictions about how some novel stones will affect one another.

Your task has three phases:

1. First you will perform 6 tests in which you hit an active stone against an inactive stone and see what happens.
   You can hit the "test" button to knock the active stone against the inactive stone and see what happens. You will then see a summary showing what the stones looked like before and after the interaction.
2. Then, you will be asked to write your best guess of how the phenomena works: what causal rule (or rules) determine when, whether and how the Active stones change the Inactive stones? You will be paid $0.50 bonus if you write the correct hidden causal relation.
3. You will then see 16 new pairs of Active and Inactive stones and make predictions about what will happen to the Inactive stone if it is hit by the Active stone. You will be paid $0.10 bonus for each guess that you make correctly (according to the true hidden powers of the stones). While making these predictions, the summaries you saw earlier will still be shown at the top of the page.

You will see how many predictions you get correct, and how much bonus you will be paid after completing the task.

Think carefully, your predictions are important for science. Also note that your answers will be human checked. Nonsensical or copy pasted responses will result in a zero bonus, or outright rejection of the HIT.
